Overview
- In the event of a fire remain calm
- Never attempt to put out a fire with water
- If a fire is contained to a single pan, turn the stove/oven off and attempt to smother it with a lid
- If the fire is larger (think the size of an office trash can, turn the stove/oven off and spray the fire at a distance of 8 to 10 feet away with a class K fire extinguisher
- Larger fires require a stronger suppressant, each kitchen hood is equipped with an automatic Ansul fire suppression system.
- Ansul fire systems detect larger fires and release suppressant automatically
- This system contains a liquid fire suppressant that activates to smother large grease fires
- These are designed to attack flames originating in a deep fryer, pot or strove
- If the Ansul system has activated, 911 will be called automatically
- If the Ansul system has activated, pull a fire alarm and evacuate the facility
Using a Fire Extinguisher
Follow the P.A.S.S. method
- P = Pull the pin
- A = Aim the nozzle
- S = Squeeze the handle
- S = Sweep from side to side
Ansul System
In the event of a larger fire, the Ansul system will be triggered. A chemical fire surpressant will engage and 911 will be called, this will all happen automatically.
If the Ansul system fires, evacuate the building immediately. Pull the fire alarm if you can.
Once the Ansul system has been activated, your kitchen will need to be professionally cleaned before it can be in operation again.
